Glucosamine in Osteoarthritis
("Wear and Tear" Arthritis)


Long-term improvement has been seen by taking:
Glucosamine at a dose of at least 1500mg a day
(e.g. one 1500mg tablet, or three tablets of 500mg daily)

Best taken with Chondroitin in the same preparation.

Can be taken as a dietary supplement, available from pharmacies and health food shops.

Takes at least 6 weeks or even up to 3 months to help improve the joint surfaces.

It occasionally causes some indigestion.

Once it is working, people tend to need less pain relief drugs.
